Minister Inspects Yeji Harbour Flood Damage, Pledges Rehabilitation Works And Supports Navy Detachment.

As part of her official visit, the Minister, Hon. Emelia Arthur, together with the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Dauda Abdul Nassir, toured Yeji.

The Minister visited the Yeji Harbour Market to assess the destruction caused by flooding from the Volta Lake and the rapidly increasing rate of erosion affecting the area.

She expressed concern about the extent of the damage and assured residents that appropriate measures would be taken to rehabilitate and maintain the harbour.

The delegation also visited the Fisheries Office, where the Minister handed over an apartment to the Navy detachment at Yeji.

This forms part of efforts to strengthen fisheries law enforcement and improve security on the Volta Lake.
