We Use Phone Lights For Deliveries When There’s No Power” — Nurses At Dedesua Health Centre Appeal For Generator.

Nurses at the Dedesua Health Centre in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti region say unreliable electricity is forcing them to use mobile phone lights to conduct deliveries and other critical procedures, a situation they say is compromising quality healthcare delivery.

The staff say power outages at the facility are frequent, and with no standby generator available, they are left with no choice but to rely on their phone torches during night shifts.

“Whenever there is light off, we use our mobile phone torches for deliveries.

It affects the quality of care we give and puts both mothers and babies at risk,” one nurse said.

Healthcare workers in the area are now appealing to the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Health Service, and the Bosomtwe District Assembly to urgently provide a generator for the health centre.

They say consistent power supply is essential for safe deliveries, emergency care, and preserving medicines that require refrigeration.

They are therefore calling on authority to intervene and provide them with generator to improve their Healthcare delivery in the area.
