Minority In Parliament Pushes For Reversal Of Cocoa Price Reduction.- Minority Leader.

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, says the Minority Caucus will push for the reversal of the recent reduction in cocoa prices when Parliament resumes sitting.

Last Friday, the Minority Leader visits some cocoa farmers in the Agona West District to solidarize with them over what they describe as the negative impact of the price reduction on their livelihoods and the welfare of their children.

Speaking to Angel TV Reporter Nana Kojo Asare, Mr. Afenyo-Markin says the Minority and the New Patriotic Party remain committed to fighting for the interest of cocoa farmers across the country.

He therefore urges the farmers to remain hopeful and continue supporting the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Some of the cocoa farmers who also speak to the media express their displeasure over the reduction in cocoa prices, saying thesaying the situation is worsening their economic hardships.

They appeal to the President to restore the previous cocoa price if there will be no increment.

The Odikro of Agona Nsonan, Nana Kofi, also uses the opportunity to describe the situation as a total failure on the part of the President towards cocoa farmers.

According to him, cocoa farmers continue to play a major role in the country’s economy, yet they are facing serious hardship due to the reduction in cocoa prices.

He says the current situation is affecting the welfare of farmers and their families, making it difficult for them to cater for their children’s education and other basic needs.

Nana Kwame Panyin II therefore appeals to the government to as a matter of urgency restore the previous cocoa price and introduce measures that will improve the living conditions of cocoa farmers across the country.

End.
