Nsawam-Adoagyiri Traders Appeal to President Mahama over EPA Shop Closures and Fines, Nsawam-Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region, Traders and stakeholders in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality have appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to intervene after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) locked several shops and demanded payments they describe as unfair.

According to Mr. Emmanuel Yaw Mortsi who is the leader of the traders said the EPA recently shut down multiple shops in Nsawam-Adoagyiri and instructed owners to pay specific amounts before their premises can be reopened.

According to the affected traders, the fines and conditions imposed are excessive and beyond what many can afford, threatening their livelihoods.

We have been doing business here for years, but this sudden action by the EPA is crippling us, The amount they are asking us to pay is not fair.

We are calling on H.E. John Dramani Mahama to come to our aid.

According to the stakeholders said, they are not against environmental regulations but want due process and reasonable charges that reflect their capacity to pay.

They also urged the EPA to engage them in dialogue rather than resorting to immediate closures. As of now, several shops remain locked, leaving customers and traders stranded.

Speaking to Angel News reporter Van Brown, some traders expressed the pain and frustration caused by the action.

According to them said, our lives and the lives of our families depend on this trading, when they lock our shops and ask us to pay amounts we cannot afford, it means we cannot feed our children or pay our rent.

They added that many of them have no other source of income and rely entirely on daily sales to survive.
