Sekyere South MCE Funds Eye Surgery For Over 200 Patients At Wiamoase Salvation Army Hospital.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Sekyere South in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Evans Amoh Twumasi, has paid a visit to the Wiamoase Salvation Army Hospital where he covered the cost of eye surgeries for over 200 patients across the municipality.
As part of the intervention, Hon. Amoh Twumasi also disbursed an additional GH₵10,000 to support feeding and transportation for the beneficiaries and their families during the treatment period.
The gesture is aimed at easing the financial burden on patients and ensuring that no one is denied critical medical care due to cost.
The MCE said the support forms part of the Assembly’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare access for vulnerable residents and reducing the financial strain associated with essential medical services.
He emphasized that quality healthcare should not be a privilege for the few, but a right for all citizens regardless of their economic status.
Staff of the Wiamoase Salvation Army Hospital expressed appreciation for the intervention.
They noted that without the support from the MCE, many of the patients would not have been able to afford the surgery, which could have resulted in permanent loss of sight for several of them.
Hon. Amoh Twumasi reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with health institutions within the municipality to bring quality and affordable healthcare closer to the people.
He added that the Assembly will continue to prioritize health interventions that directly impact the well-being of residents, especially the aged, vulnerable, and low-income earners.
The beneficiaries and their families also expressed gratitude to the MCE for the timely support, describing it as life-changing.
