Ministry Of Health Hands Over Free Primary Healthcare Facility To Assin North District Assembly.

The Ministry of Health has handed over a fully furnished health facility at Assin Donkokrom to the Assin North District Assembly under the government’s Free Primary Healthcare initiative.

The facility, which is expected to serve several communities in the area, is equipped with essential medical equipment, including baby incubators, radiant warmers, oxygen concentrators, X-ray machines, vital-sign monitors, glucometers, laboratory analysers and ultrasound machines.

It also has a dispensary, consulting room, waiting area, storeroom and delivery facilities.

Speaking on behalf of the Health Minister, the Director in charge of Biomedical Engineering at the Ministry, Ing. George Boadu, said the initiative is designed to make essential healthcare services accessible to all, particularly people in rural and low-income communities.

He said the programme will focus on disease prevention, health education and regular screening, while reducing the financial burden of healthcare on families.

Meanwhile, the Assin North District Chief Executive, Hon. Sylvester Amakye-Nyarkoh, said the facility will serve communities including Yaw-Sarmang, Beseduro-ase, Awiafitaam, Fante, Ahyirensu, Tettehsuo, Adukrom and Donkokrom.

He described the project as evidence of President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to transforming Ghana’s healthcare sector.

The DCE appealed to residents to support health officials who will be posted to the facility to ensure its effective operation.

Speaking on behalf of the community members, the Chief of Assin Donkokrom, Nana Acquiros Odam Marnah, commended the government for the initiative.

He said the facility will save residents the burden and risk of travelling long distances to seek medical care.

Nana Acquiros, however, appealed to the government to provide accommodation for health personnel, assuring that the community is ready to provide land and communal labour for the project. *CUE
