UCC Student Reported Missing Found Dead At Cape Coast Beach.

The body of 20yrs old, a female level-200 student of University of Cape Coast, Central Region, Innocentia Avinu, who had been reported missing several days ago was discovered near cape coast beach on Saturday, 13th. June 2026.
The UCC District Command said officers received information in the dawn hours of 3:15 a.m. Saturday, 13 June, that a female corpse, aged between 20 and 30 years, had been sighted ashore at Cape Coast beach.
A team from the UCC District Command was dispatched to the scene, police found the body lying in a prone position with blood observed around the nose.
An a statement was sent to the Chief Fishermen in the coastal communities were informed and asked to assist in identifying the deceased.
Police said, later on the same day, 13th June a relative of the deceased came to the station and identified a photograph of the woman as Avinu Innocentia, a 20‑year‑old Level 200 student at the University of Cape Coast.
The Dean of Students was notified, and together with police and family members they proceeded to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital mortuary where the body was shown to the family and formally identified.
Officers carried out a careful inspection of the body in the presence of family members and found no obvious external marks, police added.
The body was conveyed to the mortuary pending an autopsy an the matter remains under active investigation.
Further inquiries revealed that Avinu had failed to return from a meeting she had told classmates she would attend off campus.
