Fetish Priest Arrested For Using Sex Trafficking Victims’ Pubic Hair And Fingernails In Ritual Rituals

The Central North Regional Police Command has arrested a fetish priest alleged to have played a key role in the operations of a sex trafficking syndicate that saw 33 young women trafficked and forced into prostitution in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region.

The suspect, identified as Nana Abena, is accused of conducting ritual ceremonies using the victims’ pubic hair, fingernails, and other bodily elements as part of spiritual oaths.

These rituals were allegedly designed to instill fear, psychologically bind the victims, and deter them from escaping or exposing the operation.

According to the police, during investigations, the victims, all Nigerian nationals, disclosed that they were taken to a shrine by their trafficker to undergo the rituals before being forced into sex work.

The victims subsequently led the police to the shrine where the rituals were carried out, resulting in the arrest of the priest.

*Background*

On Thursday, September 12, 2025, at approximately 5:05 a.m., officers from the Central North Regional Police Command conducted an intelligence-led operation at Nipa-ne-Kuro, near Denkyira Subin.

The raid resulted in the rescue of 33 young women believed to be victims of an elaborate sex trafficking network.

The victims were reportedly lured into Ghana under false promises of decent employment but were instead subjected to inhumane treatment, including physical assault, psychological abuse, and forced prostitution.

The alleged trafficker, identified as “Baby Rich,” is currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.

Efforts are currently underway to collaborate with the Ghana Immigration Service and other relevant agencies to facilitate the safe repatriation of the victims to their home country, while investigations into the broader trafficking network continue.
