Stop Encroaching Adjena Lands And Stick To Your Core Mandate…VRA Told

Some group of residents of Adjena -Tafoman in the Asuogyaman district of the Eastern Region have warned the Volta River Authority (VRA) to stick to their core mandate of producing hydro electric power to Ghanaians and stop encroaching Lands that belongs to Adjena at the Akosombo Maritime area.

Speaking to Media Onyaa Kwadwo, secretary of Adjena Land Management and Investment board claimed that, Lands at the Maritime area were not part of lands secured by the then president of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah for the construction of the Akosombo Dam which there’s a boundary pillar at the Akosombo Maritime area.

He alleged that, VRA are encroaching Lands at the area for investors which he believes they have defied from their core mandate of producing hydro electric power to Ghanaians.

He therefore urged Volta River Authority to stay away from the Adjena -Tafoman lands as it was not part of the lands secured during the construction.

The Chief Priest (Oman Okomfour) of Adjena -Tafoman *Ama Asabea* in an interview lamented on how VRA is treating the people of Adjena -Tafoman after the construction of the dam despite using their Lands.

Meanwhile attempts to reach out to VRA proved furtile.
