Residents Clash With Police Swat Over Demolition Of Over 1,000 Structures In Danchira.

Tension has escalated at Domeabra in the Ga South Municipality following a demolition exercise that has affected over 1,000 structures.
According to a report by personnel from the Police SWAT unit fired warning gunshots to disperse angry residents who attempted to attack excavators and security officers supervising the exercise.
The demolition is being carried out by a company linked to Mr. Fredrick Kofi Asare, who claims ownership of the land.
In an interview, the company’s representative, Dr. Henry Addo, stated that they have obtained legal backing from both the High Court and the Supreme Court to undertake the demolition.
He urged residents to remain calm and allow the exercise to proceed, adding that the company is open to negotiations with affected persons.
Meanwhile, some affected residents told Angel TV they were neither informed nor given prior notice before the exercise began.
Several structures, including a hospital, residential buildings, and shops, have been pulled down.
The situation has created serious tension in Domeabra and nearby Denkyira, both within the Ga South Municipality, as police maintain a heavy presence to restore calm.
