Bonsua Electoral Area Intensifies Public Education On Typhoid Prevention.

Residents in parts of the Offinso South Municipality are receiving direct health education following growing concerns over increasing cases of typhoid fever in the area.

The Assembly Member for the Bonsua Electoral Area, Hon. Zakaria Shaibu, has embarked on a community health engagement campaign aimed at educating residents on preventive measures against the disease.

The outreach programme has so far covered communities including Mansra, Achiase and Asaasua within the municipality.

During the visits, Hon. Shaibu interacted with residents and stressed the need for improved hygiene and sanitation practices to help curb the spread of typhoid fever, which continues to pose a public health concern in several communities.

He encouraged residents to wash their hands regularly with soap, especially before eating or handling food, and advised households to ensure drinking water is properly treated or boiled before consumption.

The Assembly Member also highlighted the importance of proper food handling, urging residents to eat well cooked meals and maintain clean surroundings to reduce the risk of infections.

According to him, community awareness remains one of the most effective ways of preventing the spread of typhoid fever, particularly in areas where access to clean water and sanitation remains a challenge.

Some residents who participated in the engagement welcomed the initiative and called for sustained public health education across the municipality.

The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to promote preventive healthcare and improve public awareness on sanitation and hygiene within the Bonsua Electoral Area and surrounding communities.
