One Dead, 20 Buildings Razed As Fuel Tanker Explodes At Adubinsu.

One person has been confirmed dead and several others displaced after a fuel tanker exploded at Adubinsu in the Afigya Kwabere South District of the Ashanti Region this morning.

The incident occurred at the Adubinsu Station when a fuel tanker traveling from the Maase stretch toward Adubinsu reportedly lost control, overturned, and immediately burst into flames. The driver was trapped in the wreckage and burnt beyond recognition. His mate sustained severe burns and was rushed to the Tafo Government Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

The fire spread rapidly through the busy commercial area, destroying about 10 shops and 10 houses. Traders lost goods and equipment worth thousands of cedis, while several families were forced to flee their homes for safety.

The explosion threw the entire community into panic as residents scrambled to escape the intense heat and flames.

The Assembly Member for the Adubinsu-Edwenase Electoral Area, Rev. Ebenezer Somiah, confirmed that the impact of the explosion has been devastating.

He disclosed that about 20 buildings were completely destroyed, leaving many residents homeless and traders without their source of livelihood. Rev. Somiah has appealed for urgent intervention from the National Disaster Management Organization and the Afigya Kwabere South District Assembly to provide relief support for the displaced victims.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded swiftly to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control. Cooling operations are still ongoing to prevent any re-ignition.

Police and GNFS investigators have commenced investigations to establish the exact cause of the crash.

Rev. Somiah also cautioned fuel tanker drivers to exercise extreme caution when driving through populated communities to prevent similar tragedies.
