Vice President’s Proposed DCE Nominee Sparks Outrage Among Assin Central NDC Supporters

A wave of anger has swept through the ranks of NDC supporters in the Assin Central Constituency, particularly among Serial Callers, in response to the alleged nomination of Charlotte Boakye for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), a proposal said to have been made by Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang.

At a press conference this afternoon, Moro Ibrahim, the Chairman of the Serial Callers Association—better known as Mahama Piesie—expressed strong dissatisfaction with the proposed nominee.

He argued that while Charlotte Boakye currently serves as the Deputy Election Director for Assin Central, her contributions to the party in the area have been minimal, rendering her unqualified for the crucial role of Municipal Chief Executive.

The Serial Callers Association is now calling on Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang to publicly distance herself from the ongoing rumors.

The agitated supporters have claimed that Charlotte Boakye has been circulating information suggesting that the Vice President and the current Central Regional Women’s Organiser and Deputy National Coordinator for School Feeding Programme, Faustina Lamptey has endorsed her nomination, which has caused further unrest.

The group is instead rallying behind three other candidates whose names were previously submitted by the regional executives—Baba Gariba, the current Constituency Chairman; Mr. Coffie, the Organiser; and Sadick Broni Yeboah, the Constituency Secretary since they have the requisite experience to lead the municipality.

They have made it clear that they will not accept any nominee for the Municipal Chief Executive position other than one of these three.

Some of the agitated supporters also voiced their frustrations, with some warning that should any candidate imposed other than the three named be nominated, they would initiate a massive demonstration in protest.
