Ashanti NPP Rally Support For Wontumi, Calls For His Immediate Release.
The Ashanti Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has trew support behind the incumbent chairman of the party in the region, Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
The party in a press conference today July 23,2026 at the conference hall of Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia’s office called for the immediate release of Chairman Wontumi.
Addressing the media, Patrick Acheampong, the first vice chairman and acting chairman of the party in the region indicated that chairman Wontumi has been imprisoned unfairly, stating there are National Democratic Congress (NDC) members who have not faced any legal action for illegal mining activities.
“We will spit red saliva instead of white if they push us further”, he said.
“Wontumi is the last person they will arrest, never again will this happen” he added.
The acting chairman further revealed that party executives and supporters in the Ashanti Region will march to Nsawam Prisons to visit Wontumi and show solidarity to him tomorrow.
He therefore urged party members and supporters to remain calm, noting that the national leadership of the party are working hard to ensure Wontumi’s release.
