Three Killed,15 Injured In Attack On Residents New Winneba, Police Officer Shot.  

Three people have been shot dead, while fifteen others have sustained serious injuries following an attack on the Effutu North District Police Command and some residents at New Winneba in the Central Region.

The victims are reportedly among residents of Gomoa Oguakrom, Gomoa Pomade and Gomoa Yensuade, who allegedly attacked the police command and residents in the area.

The three bodies have since been deposited at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital morgue, while the fifteen injured persons are receiving treatment at the same facility

The incident has heightened tension in New Winneba, forcing security agencies to deploy personnel to the area to prevent further escalation.

The Central Regional Police Commander, together with personnel from other security agencies, is currently in the community to maintain law and order and restore calm.

Some residents who spoke to Angel News have accused the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central of being behind the attack.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive for Effutu, Rev. Arthur Mensah, says the incident took the authorities by surprise.

The Winneba Divisional Police Commander, ACP Ibrahim Opoku, has also assured residents that the police have taken steps to maintain peace and security in the area.
