Assin South Chiefs, Former DCEs, And NPP Delegates Rally Behind Kennedy Agyapong

A groundswell of support is rising for NPP presidential hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in the Assin South District, as chiefs, former District Chief Executives (DCEs), and a significant number of party delegates have publicly declared their backing.

At a press conference held in Assin Darmang, the group praised Kennedy Agyapong’s resilience, patriotism, and contribution to national development.
According to them, Ghana needs more than just a flagbearer — the New Patriotic Party (NPP) requires a candidate with broad appeal and strong leadership credentials capable of securing victory in the 2028 general elections.

They pointed to what they described as a humiliating defeat suffered by the party in the 2024 elections under the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, insisting that Kennedy Agyapong remains the party’s only hope to restore its fortunes and reconnect with the grassroots.
The group also dismissed reports suggesting that supporters of Kennedy Agyapong attacked Deputy Education Minister Rev. Ntim Fordjour during Dr. Bawumia’s meeting with delegates in Assin Fosu on November 19.

They challenged Rev. Ntim Fordjour to come forward and publicly clarify the issue, demanding an apology to Kennedy Agyapong if the claims were unfounded.
The show of solidarity underscores growing divisions within the party ahead of its next flagbearer contest and signals a strong base of support for Kennedy Agyapong in the Central Region.
Additionally, the Akyeamehene of Assin Darmang, Nana Yaw Bio, called on traditional leaders in the area to offer spiritual support through traditional prayers and libation for Kennedy Agyapong.

He urged them to back his bid wholeheartedly, expressing hope that Agyapong would win the presidential race and restore both the fortunes of the NPP and the progress of Ghana.
