Wiamoase Chief Urges MMDAs And Police To Dismantle ‘Ghetto’ Bases, Says Drug Abuse Among Youth Getting Out Of Hand.

The Chief of Wiamoase, Nana Boakye Yiadom, has called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to work closely with Police Commanders to dismantle all drug ghettos and weed bases in their jurisdictions, warning that drug abuse among the youth is getting out of hand.

Speaking on the growing menace of substance abuse, Nana Boakye Yiadom said the Assemblies have the mandate and authority to question gangs and clamp down on any group operating such bases.

He insisted that the Assemblies must be firm and decisive in dealing with the “ghetto boys” who are destroying the future of young people in the communities.

“The drug problem among our youth is getting out of hand.

The Assembly must dismantle any gang or weed base.

The Assemblies must be strong on those ghetto boys because they have the power to question any gang or dismantle any group,” the Chief stated.

Nana Boakye Yiadom further urged Police Commanders to collaborate effectively with the Assemblies to fight the menace.

He noted that the Police have patrol vehicles and logistics and should not be reluctant in responding to calls for joint operations.

“The Police Commander must collaborate with the Assembly.

They have cars for patrol so they shouldn’t be so reluctant. If we all sit back, our youth will be destroyed,” he added.

The Chief appealed to parents, traditional leaders, and opinion leaders to support the Assemblies and security agencies to rid communities of hard drugs.

He stressed that the fight against drug abuse requires a united front from all stakeholders.

Nana Boakye Yiadom said leaving the youth to drugs will mortgage the future of Wiamoase and the country at large, and called for urgent, sustained action to save the next generation.
