Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey Commission A 22-Seater Fibre Boat For National Health Insurance Scheme.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey , has commissioned a 22-seater fibre boat for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) at Zikpo Nyuinyui in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District.

The boat is expected to improve access to health insurance services for residents in the district’s island communities.

Mrs. Awatey said the boat would enable NHIS officials to reach hard-to-access communities, including Dwarf Island, Digya Island and Dodi Island, while expanding registration, renewal and other outreach services.

She noted that the lake had previously been a hindrance to residents seeking NHIS services.

The intervention, she said, would help overcome this challenge and allow officials to reach the communities more efficiently.

She further emphasised that the initiative reaffirms the Government’s commitment to expanding access to healthcare, including the Free Primary Healthcare initiative.

The intervention is expected to strengthen NHIS outreach across the district and ensure that residents’ location does not prevent them from accessing essential health insurance services.

End.
