Deputy Majority Leader Eases Parents’ Burden Ahead Of SHS Re-opening.

The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South and Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, has supported students in the constituency preparing to start Senior High School with educational materials.

In addition to the items distributed, the MP also covered the transportation cost of the beneficiaries’ belongings through TnT, ensuring that each student could send their items home without incurring any additional financial burden.

The gesture forms part of efforts by the Cape Coast South MP to support parents and reduce the financial burden as their wards prepare to enter SHS.

In all, 300 children benefited, with each receiving a mattress, a school bag, and either a chop box or a trunk.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the MP urged them to take their education seriously and study hard, assuring them that their future remains bright if they remain focused and committed to their studies.

He also appealed to parents to take greater responsibility for providing the basic needs of their children throughout their stay in school.

Hon. Ricketts-Hagan also expressed concern about recent comments from some parents over the BECE results, describing such comments as discouraging and unhealthy.

“I’m appealing to parents in this country to stand behind their children and fight for their wards to get SHS admission rather than discourage them,” he said.

According to the Municipal Chief Executive for Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, the gesture is not new, as the MP has been supporting students in this manner for several years.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items provided and asked the children to continue to pray for the MP.
