𝗚ovt 𝗧o 𝗥esume 𝗪ork 𝗢n 𝗢senase 𝗘-𝗕lock 𝗗ay 𝗦𝗛𝗦 – 𝗠inister 𝗔nnounces.
Work on the stalled E-Block Community Day Senior High School at Osenase in the West Akyem Municipality of the Eastern Region will soon resume.
This was made known during the commissioning of two new educational facilities in the municipality,they are a six-unit classroom block with an office and store at Osenase and a three-unit kindergarten block at Bunso. The Regional Minister, Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, who made the announcement, said preparations are far advanced to bring the contractor back on site to complete the project.
It would be recalled that the concept of the E-Block schools was an initiative by President Mahama during his first term in 2012 as part of a national plan to build 200 new progressive day senior high schools. This vision of the Mahama-led administration was dashed, and construction work on most of the projects, including that of Osenase, was completely abandoned after the government was voted out of power in 2016.
According to the Minister, the initiative is to expand access to secondary education, reduce overcrowding in existing schools, and enhance quality teaching and learning. She said the government remains committed to expanding educational infrastructure, improving teacher capacity, and ensuring equitable access to quality education for all.
She assured that her office will continue to work closely with the Municipal and District Assemblies to achieve these goals.
Mrs Awatey commended the Assembly, the contractors, and all stakeholders who played a role in the successful completion of the projects.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Paulina Akabila, said the Assembly has executed a number of developmental projects, such as school blocks, health facilities, and boreholes, in just 18 months of the NDC government being in office.
She entreated the people to use the provision of these projects to renew their commitment to supporting the government with their votes in the upcoming elections.
The Member of Parliament for the West Akyem Constituency, Owen Kwame Frimpong, emphasized the importance of maintaining the newly commissioned facilities and urged the pupils to report anyone who attempts to deface the buildings promptly to the authorities, assuring them that those who help protect the infrastructure would be rewarded.
The Municipal Director of Education, Loretta Akua Ayisi, expressed gratitude to the government for the facilities.
She urged the teachers to make good use of them and continue to nurture and guide the young ones with dedication and professionalism.
She also advised the pupils to make good use of the facilities, study hard, and make their parents, community, and the nation proud in the near future.
