One Person Critically Injured At Awutu Oshimpo As Alleged Landguards Attack Government Project Site.

Awutu Oshimpo, Central Region A 35-year-old man is fighting for his life following a violent attack in Awutu Oshimpo in the Awutu Senya West District, where suspected landguards allegedly attacked workers and residents at a government-backed project site.
The victim, identified as Daniel Larbi, is currently in critical condition at Swedru Government Hospital after sustaining severe injuries during the incident.
According to information gathered from residents, the community has struggled with poor mobile network connectivity for years.
In response, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, Gizella Agbotui Tetteh, reportedly secured investment for the construction of a telecommunications tower aimed at improving network access in the area.
Construction workers had begun preliminary work on the site with support from residents and local authorities, including the Odikro (community chief), who had encouraged communal participation in the project.
However, tensions escalated when a group of approximately 30 men, believed to be landguards, arrived at the scene on about 10 motorbikes and ordered an immediate halt to the construction.
Witnesses say the residents resisted, insisting the project was a government initiative intended to benefit the entire community.
The situation quickly turned violent.
Residents allege that the group launched an unprovoked attack, beating several people indiscriminately, including elderly individuals.
During the chaos, Daniel Larbi was reportedly stabbed, leaving him critically injured.
The aftermath has left the community shaken, with many residents expressing fear for their safety.
Some claim the attackers have issued threats to return and target those who opposed them.
Speaking to the media, the Odikro of Awutu Oshimpo, Nai Okogyeoman Oshimpo I, strongly condemned the attack.
He further alleged that the Bawjiase Police Commander may be complicit, accusing the officer of collaborating with the suspected landguards.
Nai Oshimpo has called on national authorities, including the Inspector General of Police, the Interior Minister, and former President John Dramani Mahama, to intervene and ensure justice is served
